Sleeves Of Your Love (New Poem)

Sleeves Of Your Love
Written by: Michele Hii

You live in my closet, unattended.
Your fine fabric sags like stone,
 looking like a heartbroken lad.
As I lift you from the cold hanger,
you immediately glow like a kid.

Once we march out of the door,
I hug you close against the evil cold,
Yet you don't mind,
And you keep me light.

 I'll never forget this date.
 I love this very day.
Your body shields me with sincere warmth.
My heart halts when you kiss my frozen cheeks
with gentle whispers,
Like the birth of a new sky.

One Ideal Fall Day (New Poem)

It's October 14 and I'm getting older. There's nothing much to do on this special day, just studying for midterm. However, Super Junior's Kyuhyun got me really happy and excited with his second mini album that was just released this morning.
It's called Fall, Once Again and the music video above was released at 8am (PST), two hours before Kyuhyun's live broadcast session on V app (which kinda pissed me off because I woke up at 6am without my alarm sounding off and the connection was really bad because of about 80 000 fans viewed the broadcast). His songs blew me away once more and I just love the fall essence added to the wonderful ballads in this album. Anyway, his "A Million Pieces" music video and his new album got me inspired to write this new poem. Birthdays are commonly for that person to receive, but to me, I want to share this new piece of writing with you guys. In Kyuhyun's broadcast, he said that the fall season got him depressed that he got inspired to write (and sing) ballads. I guess in his perspective, fall represents breakups or unstable relationships. But I want to write something that makes fall as a season when people get a chance to fall in love (especially at first sight). I mean, fall doesn't have to be dark and gloomy all the time, right?

One Ideal Fall Day
The fall air blows against my face.
The bed of coloured leaves crush agilely against my feet.
Funny that I try my best to avoid them
so that my feet won't tear their perfect edges.

Through my peripheral vision
I spot a unique one,
infused with a light hue of yellow
among the cluster of red.
As I reach out to it,
a hand brushes against mine.
A pair of mesmerizing black eyes
stares right back at me.
A shy but gorgeous smile greets me.

I'm not sure whether I've seen you before
but your friendly face comforts me.
Yet a sudden tingling crawls inside of me
like as if my heart is melting.

You hand the leaf to me,
saying, "Do you have a minute?"
Try not to show my quivering,
I nod and walk forward
with you following my pace.

This new feeling grows
as if you can even hear my vigorous heartbeat.
I don't know why I smile this whole time
when you are by my side.
We enjoy each other's company
and I pray that this day wouldn't end.

The dull clouds meet with the bitter wind
as darkness overcome Earth.
Realize that it is time for us to depart,
I force myself not to shed a tear.
You notice my frown
and vigilantly pull me close.
My body fits perfectly to yours.
Your warm embrace vanquishes the cold.
You whisper, "I'll see you again, don't worry,"
before signalling goodbye with one last touch of your hands
and one last gaze of your beautiful eyes.

Dear fall,
keep your mystery high and proud
as I dream this day tonight
till I reunite with this person
once again.

And no, this is not inspired by my personal experiences (because I've never been in a real relationship before). This is written especially for those who are seeking for someone to be with, especially myself. That person will be right in front of you, so don't give up on love even when the weather is harsh! Hope you enjoy reading this new poem and I'll see you in the next post! ;)

Living in the Hallyu Wave (New obsession on She Was Pretty besides Super Junior)

Hey, how are you all doing? Hopefully this will be a quick new blog post tonight as I'll talk a little more about my new obsession with Korean entertainment. Previously, I've blogged about Super Junior and until now, I'm still craving for more new stuff from them. If you haven't checked out my previous blog post, you can do so here: http://thetruemichelehii.blogspot.ca/2015/07/its-okay-to-change-music-taste-super.html

Recently, I've been loving my first ever Korean drama called She Was Pretty (translated from Korean title "She Was Beautiful, Puzzled Lovers"). I never knew that I get to watch a Korean drama. It was just so good! Unlike the Japanese magical girl anime that I usually watch , Korean dramas really got you at the of your seat with unexpected cliffhangers and bittersweet, cheesy little moments in relationships between characters. She Was Pretty actually shows good examples of professional script-writing, character development, and interesting story line. I took Intro to Writing Plays class three years ago and I remembered how much I sucked at it. This drama foreshadows (to me) on how fresh and rich the elements of the show are, including the setting of the protagonist's workplace (The Most office reminds me of the Carrie Diaries when Carrie Bradshaw worked in a fashion magazine company just like Hye Jin the protagonist in this k-drama), the diversity of each character's personalities, and also short moments of comic relief.

Speaking of comic relief, I think Siwon is just phenomenal playing the mysterious but hilarious co-worker of Hye Jin. He really enlightens the mood with his quirky side and indescribably hilarious expressions. Aside from that, he shows a caring heart towards Hye Jun as his non-biological younger sister. I died laughing whenever Siwon showed up on screen. Try watching these clips without laughing. I think that's impossible to do so even without subtitles. XD

This is one of my favourite scenes between Shin Hyuk (Siwon) and Hye Jin. It's just so sweet!

And there might be bromance going on between Shin Hyuk and the Chief Editor, Sung Joon. But the way he did it was just out of his mind. XDDDD
The crew who made this drama possible are smart enough to choose Siwon as the comic relief/supporting character. Siwon is just so good-looking plus his derp faces always crack us up, especially with his eyebrows.

The story between Hye Jin and Sung Joon is the main plot  of the drama. These two characters were best friends back when they were in elementary school. But after years of separation, these two bumped into each other in the same workplace unexpectedly. Unfortunately, it takes time for the guy to realize that the girl who works for him is actually his childhood friend and it takes courage for Hye Jin to reveal her true self in front of Jung Soon. The title apparently presents the theme of beauty. People are worried about their appearances that they are ashamed or being themselves in front of someone else just to prove that they can be someone different.

Anyway, the first few episodes show the rocky relationship between the two long-lost friends. These two have definitely changed a lot after so many years of growing up and living in different worlds, and now that they're under the same company, it's gonna take a while till they treat each other well (and maybe fall in love). Because of Jung Soon's clueless mind and Hye Jin's adamant will, there might be in a scene when they can finally turn the tables around and spill the beans (well for Hye Jin).

But most importantly, Hye Jin has to solve matters with her best friend Ha Ri. Because at first, Hye Jin drags Ha Ri to pretend to be Hye Jin in front of Jung Soon (which is stupid but I understand how she feels). But after a while, Ha Ri keeps on being the fake Hye Jin and she totally falls under the crush trap.

I'm definitely look forward to more of this love triangle and more of Shin Hyuk (Choi Siwon of Super Junior) in this K-drama! Gonna update more on this post to see how this new show goes!

Just one more pic to get myself and the other fans excited:

K-Pop and K-dramas have been invading all over the globe that they intrigue a lot of fans to dream of going to Korea someday, including myself. I mean now that I'm a big fan of She Was Pretty and Super Junior, I might dig in to more of the Korean media as well as visit Korea for sightseeing and getting ideas for a story set in Korea. I was hoping to write a story not only set in Japan (and that would be my children's novel Spring Flower which I'm still working on) but also in Korea. The thing is, I don't know whether it's gonna be a romantic comedy like this  drama series. Any suggestions on what makes a good Korean story?
