Michele's DIY Arts Realm (Star Potpourri)

Hey guys! How's your summer going? September is here and it gets a little colder,a brief signal that fall is around the corner! And when it comes to cold season, there's less chance for me to open the windows for fresh air,but sometimes my room gets a little smelly due to sweat from working out. So this is a handy DIY to lighten up the atmosphere in your room. Plus this DIY can be an additional decoration for a back-to-school ambiance! (P.S I type this part on my new iPhone and I can't believe it actually works! XD I'm blogging on my phone! Unfortunately, I can't upload the photos from my phone's album to my blog so I have to do it here on my PC.)

All you need are:
  • Star strips
  • A small decorative/see through bag
  • A ribbon (use a puncher to punch holes on top of the bag to slit the ribbon through)
  • A perfume/room spray of your choice
Check out my previous DIY post, Stars In A Jar to see the full tutorial on how to make the paper stars. http://thetruemichelehii.blogspot.ca/2015/05/stars-in-jar-micheles-diy-realm.html
But I'm just gonna briefly explain how to do it here.
Tie one end of your strip into a knot (don't pull too hard or too tight! You'll break your strip!). Slit the end of the strip through the pentagon knot.
Fold the strip around the pentagon. Fold and roll the pentagon over till the whole strip is "wrapped" in the pentagon. Slip the remaining end into the pentagon.

Make sure your pentagon is not too flat because you want to make a chubby star! Hold the ends with your thumb and forefinger. Then, pinch and push the edges till your create the sharp tails of a star. Do the same on the other edge of the pentagon.

Fill up your bag with your cluster of paper stars. Then spray your bag of stars with your perfume or room spray. The perfect amount of scent for your bag depends on your desirability. But don't spray a little too much because you might not want your room to smell a little too overpowering.

Tie up your bag with your ribbon.

Finally, tie up the ends of your ribbon around your shelf or wherever your like so that your potpourri of  stars will spread its scent all over your room!

I hope you enjoy this easy DIY and I'll see you in the next post! Have an exciting new semester to all students! Look forward to fall! :D <3
